Cafe Mediterranean

i
Known to its loyal patrons as the home of kebabs, gyros, hummus and pizzas, Cafe Mediterranean is a dining experience. The menu covers the best cuisines from the vast Mediterranean, the Middle East to North Africa to Italy, France and Spain. My personal favorites are Lamb Stew, Tunisian Fish, and Eggplant Parmigiana.

Ah Fat Seafood Restaurant

Typical Chinese restaurant with very reasonable prices. The service is fast and the food is very good. Frequently you need to wait before being seated because of the many patrons. Because of this, they opened another branch.. Just behind the original! Yet, the 2 branches are never seen empty. That's how good their food is.

Tsuru Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar

Serving Authentic Japanese Food for almost 20 years already, Tsuru is the oldest runnig japanese restaurant in the city.  A bit pricey by Davao standards but well worth it. Be prepared to shell out  about 20 USD for a good meal. Since yellowfin tuna is readily available in the city, be prepared to taste the best sushi and sashimi this side of Asia! There's also a buffet (eat-all-u-can) event every 15th and 30th of the month for about 10 USD per person.

Bistro Rosario

Serves a variety of food including Filipino, European and Continental dishes. Their main specialty are steaks of different kinds, to be cooked to your specification. Pastries, cakes and desserts are also available in their bakery, and are very delicious and often out of stock by afternoon due to high demand. Sandwiches, pasta and other snacks are also served up to 6pm. The prices are quite high for locals but not for dollar earners and servings are big. Service is excellent and food are served within 30 minutes after ordering.

Jack's Ridge

Karlo's Coffee Station at Jack's Ridge
Karlo's Coffee Station at Jack's Ridge photo by: Manny
Located at the top of Shrine Hills in Matina, this place offers a spectacular view of the city, Davao Gulf and even Samal Island. Very nice place to eat especially at night, with cool breeze and bright twinkling city lights for a view. Specializes in local Filipino delicacies like sinigang, lechon, grilled tuna, barbeque chicken, spare ribs, etc. The order takes up to 30 minutes to be served but it is worth the wait.

Adjacent to the restaurant is Kai's, a bar featuring live bands almost nightly and Karlo's Coffee Station, a lovely coffee shop.

Luz Kinilaw

Luz Kinilaw is authentic Davao cuisine! It's a seaside restaurant serving no-frills inihaw na panga (roast jaw of yellow fin tuna) and kinilaw (local version of the Japanese sashimi - bite-size chunks of raw fish marinated in vinegar with local vegetables) . The place is pretty bare and simple but the food more than makes up for the place, and the prices are very reasonable. If absorbing the local culture is your thing, then this is the ultimate Davao food trip for you!
